My Entrepreneurial Journal for the week ending May 6, 2017

I learned about Magdalena Yesil, who has a wonderful life as an entrepreneur.   Her success was in part of her quest to understand what was going on around her, her willingness to share what she knows and believes, while also her willingness to ask questions about anything she did not know.  She sees the unknown paths as an opportunity to enter and discover - not something to run from. I have completed gathering my cookbook recipes and this week I will finish my website. I learned a bit about operating an online Brokers, Manufacturers, and Wholesalers business. My eyes were opened about some of my myths about entrepreneurship as I discovered the five myths of entrepreneurship. The follow are three myths that I had: ·          Entrepreneurs are young, the truth is that there is twice as many older people starting out as entrepreneurs. ·          Entrepreneurs need big investments, but most done. ·          Entrepreneurs are all startups, but many are well establishe

Entrepreneurs Heroes - Corey Bell - Man of Impact

by Maria Tucker Corey Bell This week we studied about another entrepreneurial hero, Corey Bell, a man of impact. Corey didn't start out to be an entrepreneur, but as he progressed through his career he realized that something was missing his life. He realized that he wanted to pass through this life having been a man of impact and not ending it with what-ifs. The chairman and co-founder of TriFusion, a company that services some of the largest companies in the world and a host of government agencies with custom-made IT hardware solutions, Corey has driven out the phrase can't from his vocabulary.  Like all great entrepreneurs, he focuses ways to get beyond can't. After working for several years, Corey sat down and wrote a dream and map for his life and become a man of impact and then made that dream a reality. For entrepreneurs, Corey teaches three lessons: Live your life as a person of impact and not a person of what-ifs. Focus beyond the can'

Entrepreneurs Heroes - Randy Pausch April 29, 2017 by Maria Tucker This past week we studied about a hero who is not a traditional entrepreneur but a visionary. Randy Pausch, who at 47 years of age passed away. But what is inspiring about Randy is it just before he passed away, he gave what he knew would be his last lecture entitled "Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams." In this lecture, Randy talks about his life and achieving many of his childhood dreams. Quoting Randy: "… what were my childhood dreams? You may not agree with this list, but I was there. Being in zero gravity, playing in the National Football League, authoring an article in the World Book Encyclopedia – I guess you can tell the nerds early. Being Captain Kirk, anybody here have that childhood dream? Not at CMU, nooooo. I wanted to become one of the guys who won the big stuffed animals in the amusement park, and I wanted to be an Imagineer with Disney." You can watch Ran

Entrepreneurs Heroes - Bruce Thompson

Entrepreneurs Heroes - Bruce Thompson April 22, 2017 by Maria Tucker Bruce Thompson with his Family This week in my entrepreneur program, one of the article heroes was Bruce Thompson. Bruce was a very successful entrepreneur, and that he not only succeeded in his entrepreneur efforts but also in his personal life. When he passed away in his early 50s (1956-2009) he did so knowing that he was there for his family throughout most of his life. As an entrepreneur, he valued doing what was right and his families and friends more than financial success. He learned early that there will never be enough time to do all the things that need to be done in business and that his time with his family was far more limited and important then getting that one last thing done in the office. To squeeze out time for his family and his business he often found that he had to put in 20+ hours and then accept that that was all that he could give. I hope that I can live my life as an en
